On Brock Street in Whitby, just a couple of kilometres north of the historic Four Corners, is a large restaurant whose potential lay untapped until restaurateurs Chris and Russ bought it in 2009. They opened The Brock House, a “Muskoka cottage meets Whistler chalet,” and have been serving the people of Whitby good food ever since.
At The Brock House, the menu features such tasty items as shrimp and lobster pot pie, sweet potato gnocchi, pizza (gluten-free dough available) and lamb shank - all served in an inviting environment with exposed brick walls and that cozy chalet feel.

Big improvement since the last visit. We got the same server and his knowledge improved...thank god. This pizza was good and so was the calamari. It was good enough to come back...one day
Finally went here to see what all the hubub was about. As predicted, it has all the atmosphere of a rapidlube with the culinary experience of its predecessor Krebs. Besides the mildly funny misspellings throughout the menu there was nothing else to make me smile. Sheppard's Pie (their spelling - based on the subway line in Toronto?) is 98% reconsituted potato slurry with a bit of gristle and a lot of fat. Can't even begin to tell you about the horror story that was the was the "steak" but I am sure someone misses their dog very much. The other meals were sent back and we left. Never again.
Came here in the spring a couple of months after the Brock House opened with my Durham dining out club group, 16 people in total. Having reserved, we were given our own section of the totally gutted, renovated and vastly improved restaurant (now under new ownership) complete with working fireplace in our section as it was a bit cool. The service was excellent, super fast considering there were 16 of us ordering at once, and very gracious with 2 servers provided to our long table.......especially as everyone ordered appetizers, drinks, serious entrees and desserts ..........enough to keep the kitchen staff busy. The place was spotless, including new and smart washrooms, and a vast improvement from the tired and dated old Krebs Restaurant of before. We enjoyed the many eclectic menu choices and large portions too! The only thing I heard during the meal was praise and we are a serious dining out group which visits 'better' restaurants in the Durham region on a monthly basis, so we take our restaurant trips seriously. I marvelled at the outstanding chocolate dessert called 'The Brock Bombe'. It was high-end in both taste, content and cost, but worth every penny! We want to return again, based on this outstanding premier visit and hope the restaurant will continue to prosper and grow. It is run by the owners of the very successful Shrimp Cocktail in Oshawa and Hot Rocks in Whitby.
I love the pulled pork nachos, and the salads are good. I've also had the shepherds pie once. It was good but I keep going back for the nachos.
I've had just about everything on this menu and have never been unsatisfied with the portion size and the quality of the food. service is always top notch and atmosphere is great. DJ on the weekends provides a nice vibe in the bar. always return
