Don't take your change!
Alright, so I went here on St. Patrick’s Day once and was having a reasonably good time. It was my turn to buy the next set of pitchers. So, I left my table and went up to the very crowded bar. I ordered two pitchers, paid the bartender, she rudely threw my change on the bar and it kind of scattered everywhere. Regardless of her impoliteness I left a tip and took the remainder of my change. I had only had time to pour a few glasses before a bouncer taps me on the shoulder and says ‘you’re out of here.’ I was surprised because I had not had very much to drink; I was behaving myself, and was having a very quiet discussion with my friends at our table. This prompted me to rightfully ask ‘why am I being kicked out?’ to which the bouncer responded ‘apparently you’ve been stealing tips’ I explained that I had not been stealing tips in fact I had been giving generous tips throughout the night. That didn’t matter to him and he said I would have to leave. So, I told him that I would leave peacefully without any incident and that I didn’t want to cause any problems. So there I was embarrassed in front of my friends, just paid for two pitchers without even getting a pint of it, standing outside the restaurant not knowing what to do. I decided that I should try to talk to the manager and explain the misunderstanding. I asked the bouncer at the door to speak with the manager he said ‘look buddy I’m just a temporary contract worker hired for just for tonight so I don’t know who the manager is’ I looked at him with a slightly condescending and skeptical gaze and said ‘so if I understand you, you cannot tell me who your boss for tonight is or who is paying you?’ me explaining it back to him probably made him realize how stupid his statement was. He said ‘I’ll be right back.’ A minute later he brings over the head bouncer (the guy who kicked me out) I asked if he was the manager he said ‘no’ then I asked if I could speak with the manager to which he said ‘look man, she’s really busy I don’t know if she is available or not’ I said ‘so you are not a person who can bring me the manager let alone find out if she is available?’, ‘one second sir.’ The manager turns out to be one of the girls working at the bar where I ordered the two pitchers or beer from prior to being kicked out. I explained the situation to her, how it was all a misunderstanding, how one of her employees threw my change on the bar and it went everywhere, and how I can understand how it can look like I am stealing tips when I have to collect my change all across the bar and floor and if the staff she was managing was a little more polite we might not be in this situation. She understood where I was coming from apologized on behalf of her staff member and then asked ‘so what is it that you want?’ I told her I wanted to be allowed to go back inside and she obliged. I went back in and carried on with the rest of my night and life. I think what happened was the bartender who was serving me did not expect me to ask for change and got upset when I did. Because of this extra ‘inconvenience’ she angrily threw the change and scattered it everywhere. When I didn’t leave a tip amount that she thought was acceptable (but I did because of her poor attitude) she called the bouncer and made up some story about me stealing tips so I would be kicked out. I have not been to this place since, I never intend to visit again, and I will tell this story to anyone who mentions this place or asks me where they might want to avoid. I wish I could say ‘best of luck’ to the duke of wellington but it wouldn't be sincere and I would honestly lose no sleep if this place went out of business.
