Had heard great things about this restaurant but was bitterly disappointed. Service was OK, but food was bland and not great value for what you got. Atmosphere was severly lacking. A restaurant that's trying to be something special but, sadly, failing.
I am not someone who criticizes unnecessarily, but this restaurant was absolutely atrocious. I ordered the peppercorn steak, which I believe is to be flambeed at tableside. The server didn't know how. Instead i received an undersized, overcooked piece of meat swimming in a glue-like gravy.(the vegetables and baked potato looked and tasted like the y had been sitting out for hours. DO NOT waste your money at this place. There are simply too many good restaurants out there that ca provide you with quality food for your dollar. This restaurant is stuck in the past and has no clue what quality and value means in today's fine dining landscape. As a matter of principle, I can never go back to Amadeus.

This is the best place to eat in Durham, the owner makes you feel like the most important person in the world.I would bring a lady I wanted to impress here for sure.
I went to Amadeus for dinner just a couple of days ago. I was so impressed with my experience that I felt compelled to write a review. For appetizers our table ordered the stuffed mushrooms and oysters rockefeller, they were delicious! As a main course I had the peppercorn steak, it was truly the best I've ever had. Our server was also very attentive and friendly. What a great place! The members of my party were also truly impressed by this restaurant.
