Antica Restuarant is a great place to get pizza in this very busy touristy area. We like the "italian" ambiance (Dean Martin or Frank Sinatra is usually playing), the service is good and fast, It's my family's favorite pizza on the Canadian side...keep in mind that it is very thin pizza and is cooked in a brick oven. We've had a pasta dish there, and weren't overly impressed so we stick with what we like. As with any restaurant, pop and drinks are expensive; but like I said, for being in a tourist area, food is good and predictable. Pizzas could be a bigger for the price.
I enjoyed the food very much. And I am Italian. The sauce on the pizza was excellent. Just like the sauce we make at home. Nice portions too!! I will be returing lots more times!
Being from Niagara Falls I can tell you that there are very few families that take as much pride in their ingredients and cooking methods as the Mascia Family at Antica.
The owners are there everyday prepping sauces and cooking in the kitchen to make sure that their product remains authentic Italian.
I go at least 1-2 times a month and it is always exceptional. Great value, great food, and great service. Well Done!
I am a Niagara Falls native and of Italian descent. What does this have to do with my review??? Plenty. My review might possibly explain some of the not so favourable reviews on this page.
Antica Pizzeria, is in fact, as true an Italian Pizzeria as one will find on this side of the Atlantic. Their pizza is exactly what you would find at any true Italian Pizzeria in the homeland. It has a thin crust topped with traditional, fresh ingredients and is cooked in a real wood-burning fire oven, (not one of those imitation wood-burning ovens that have a traditional front and then gas heating elements in back).
I can’t seem to understand how anyone could think that the pizzas are at all prepared earlier in the day, since the pizza chef stands at the back of the restaurant, in plain view no less, where you can see him tossing, dressing and cooking the pizza!!!
If you are one of those pizza enthusiasts that enjoy a greasy deep dish, heavy, fluffy crusted pizza, then unfortunately, this is not the place for you.
However, if you are a pizza connoisseur and want to try truly authentic Italian pizza … then unless you have a flight booked in the near future … Antica is truly it.
