When business partners and high school pals Omar Shaheen and Tyler Colford saw their friends and family basking in the juicing afterglow, it spurred an idea to make organic, cold-pressed juice accessible to communities throughout Toronto. They brought their vision to life with Village Juicery. They opened a storefront on College Street in late 2014, and in less than two years, two more outposts were added along with the esteemed certified organic title – one of the first of its kind for a juicery in Toronto.
At their third outpost, pounds of nutrient-dense bevvies, brekkies, boosters and a rotating tap of hot and cold elixirs fill their teensiest space on the Yonge and Eglinton strip. Stepping in, you’ll be immediately drawn to the store’s centrepiece: the ultra-slick bar tap perched on the brilliant white counter.
On the menu is a cold, fizzy and refreshing kombucha from Live, a Guelph, Ontario-based company. It goes down super smooth with just the right amount of kick you’d expect from a glass of booch. “This one tastes a little sweeter and little lighter because it wasn’t fermented for quite as long,” says Gabby Ouimet, one of the store’s holistic nutritionists.
