Such a great restaurant! The location is amazing and their pizza, pasta and charcuterie is amazing! Love coming here!
Great traditional Italian food. Love the atmosphere and the service. Thank you for a beautiful experience.
Me and my husband decided to go for my bday this year. We wanted to try something new and being foodies appreciate good food. Like come on how bad can a traditional Italian food be? Boy was I wrong! Before we went,my husband called and specified it was my bday. So when we came and got seated between two other tables cramped together, and birthday party of 8!!! behind us. Add blazing nightclub tunes and you can not hear each other, server, or anything for that matter. It took waiter over 10 min for him to come and see us, he said he was opening a bunch of wine for other tables as he is serving another section. We got water and were ready to order, unfortunately it took another 10 min for him to comeback...By that time they were sold out of the special that my husband wanted, waiter again apologized and said: I just sold the last piece, but what do you expect it's a special on busy night? Seriously it was 6.30 pm... Anyways food took over 20 min to get to us, while we were filling up on stale olives and stone hard, cold bread they sell as appetizer. I tried ordering a glass of wine, but they only had VERY limited choice (1) of what I can have in glass, I was pushed by waiter to buy a bottle. One of us drives... Entrees were just plain awful. Mine was supposed to be creamy mushroom sauce and it came 2 tiniest pieces of mushrooms I have ever seen+ 10 frozen peas . It was just pasta and beef... My husbands was even worst. "It tasted like sauce from a can" my husband said. Overpriced, under managed, loud, add bad Italian food and you are in Terroni. Do NOT go there, save your money and go somewhere else. To Management: Please get waiters some help, or increase staff on duty. They are overworked and understaffed.
From the inability to make last minute reservations, to the managers and wait staff that don’t seem to care if your fish is overcooked or pasta and calamri that are bland, to the “policy of (fake) authenticity” where policy trumps even simple requests for butter (I'm allergic to Olives) and salt (no matter how bland the pasta dish was). Last time we checked they have butter and salt in Italy. No "I'm sorry" or "Let us make it up to you". Thanks for upsetting me so much that I got up from the table and went outside to calm down. Snobby attitudes have no place in today’s gastronomic operations. That’s why Terroni on Adelaide is my number one choice for WORST service in Toronto.
What is wrong with some of the negative reviews? This is one of the best Italian restos in the city. Period. You have to be dead to not like the pizza, pasta or anything else this place offers. Fresh. Authentic Italian. The servers are lovely.
Hands down, maybe the best pizza in Toronto - after Liberto - . I really love their pizza - salmon -. You just can not complain about any thing in the pizza.
I was surprised to see that even on a weeknight, Terroni's was jam packed. With the hustle and bustle of people - it gave you a warm sense that you would definately be having a good night. At first, the service was a little slow...it took our waiter a while to get to our table and get us water. We ordered a bunch of Specials - all worth it. I would suggest ordering from the specials menu - definately a good decision on our part. Our entrees' came out soon after we had finished our apps. I liked how we didn't have to wait long after we had finished off our apps. It seemed like they knew exactly when to send out our next item on the list. The location is accessible by TTC or car - located in the financial district. They could have a few more stalls in the women's washroom and I really liked how they preserved most of the courthouse. A little packed in some areas (they randomly put tables everywhere) - you definately have to squeeze your way through to get to your table. I don't know, maybe this is their plan. I would say, I enjoyed the food the best. Pasta is made fresh daily which you don't find in most restaurants. There is nothing bland about their food and I would definately go back again to try more of their dishes! I would sum up Terroni's as a place with great food, good atmosphere and decent price.
what a great restaurant. rustic food, great but loud atmosphere. quality ingredients.. definitely a repeat customer I have become!
I frequent Terroni a lot for dinners out with girlfriends. The food is pretty good and it is a happening little spot with great atmosphere. The service is warm and welcoming and I always have a good meal.
After reading extensive reviews by people who were aghast at the atrocious service at all Terroni restaurants, I must say that I was going in expecting the worst. We were seated in the corner of the basement that was quite rustic (with wine barrels all around) and we all appreciated the privacy of being in this nook. Since we knew the restaurants dislike for menu substitutions, we were wondering what we should say first to get our waitress to launch into the so called speeches regarding the sanctity of the food preparation. It was actually quite enjoyable since she figured out we were just ribbing her and we actually had no intention of making changes to our orders (keep in mind though, if you are bent on changing/removing ingredients from dishes, this restaurant is not for you). I ordered a ricotta stuffed deep fried zucchini flower off the seasonal menu. It was tasty but a little on the bland side. I also ordered the Pappardelle Larghe al sugo D’ Agnello (ontario lamb and artichoke ragu with pecorino) which was disappointing since the ragu wasn't tomato based so it lacked the acid that the dish really needed. The dish was under seasoned as well. I've had better lamb pasta dishes. My husband ordered the San Girgio pizza which I tasted and it was delicious. The pizza was pretty huge and it didn't matter that they didn't cut it for us (we had cutlery, so we used it). If I go back, I'll order one of their pizzas.
There's 1 downside. We were outside since the weather was really nice. Since we had a large group a couple members of our group were stuck sitting in the Sun. It would've been nice if they made arrangements for them. On the positive side, the food was amazing. I normally get the pizza from there but today I decided to go with the pasta. This was the best decision because it was really amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant & you'll definitely get your money's worth.
Let me wipe the slate clean with the ultimate review on this fantastic establishment. We were two couples sitting near the entrance to the outside area and received fantastic service from a lovely young lady who had a terrific smile and beautiful shapely legs. She was evenly matched by the hostess. We ordered gourmet pizzas and red wine from Italy. Beautiful bellisimo. The atmosphere was beautiful and it made my night.
Went here for lunch and it was packed and we had to wait. Good sign very good sign. We thought. The food was bad and the service was rude almost. People like this? the table is bare they don't even want to spend 2cents on pepper. It is not Italian it's just a name and people keep coming for some reason that can't be the food or service. Better options in the area.
Best pasta I've ever eaten. I've only eaten here once, about a year ago, and I still dream about it. It says right on the menu that they will not alter their dishes, so I didn't ask for any alterations ... I just looked for something where I knew I'd like ALL of the ingredients. I've heard horror stories about customers daring to ask for something to add to their dish - don't do it. If you simply have to alter everything you eat, this isn't the place for you. However, if you can eat things "their way" you will be rewarded with beautiful dishes that are so delicious.
Amazing food, Amazing Atmosphere, Snobby Hostesses and Waiters. There's a very noticeable sense that staff are "looking down their nose" at you from the moment you walk in the door. But as soon as you are seated at your table (45 mins later) the rustic Italian atmosphere fills your senses and makes for a pleasant experience. After you place your order, the food comes very quickly (less than 10 mins) and the portions are just right. If you finish whats on your plate it's just enough to fill you up without making you feel over-stuffed. The food itself is truly some of the best Italian pasta/pizza I've had. To Summarize; if you can get past the elitist personalities of the staff, you'll have a fantastic meal at a price that's easy to swallow.
This was the worst restaurant experience I have ever encountered! DO NOT GO HERE AS YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED! I should have listened to the mixed reviews while doing my research. Overly priced, bad service, and uncomfortable.
After hearing so many good things about Terroni, my wife and I decided to try it. It was fabulous! The meat and cheese appetizer was great and out pastas were excellent! I completely understand why the restaurant doesnt allow customers to have parmesan on the table or salt and pepper - the food doesnt need it! Very good service and their wine selection is very good - We are definately coming back!!
Our group was very happy with Terroni. The food was wonderful (and plentiful) and the service was very nice. They agreed to take a reservation for us and even though we had reserved for 8 people and only 6 showed, they were fine. They even let us hold on to an extra table in case the couple showed up. It says right on their menu that they won't substitute ingredients and they won't allow you to put parmesan cheese on their seafood pasta (I don't agree with this notion, but we knew it going in). Nonetheless, the food was wonderful. The pizza tasted EXACTLY like the pizza I had in Napoli, which I still say is the best pizza in the world. Don't hesitate to go to Terroni. Just keep in mind that they won't change the menu for anyone.
A group of us from work went to the new Courthouse location for our Christmas lunch and gift exchange. We love Terroni's and were very excited to eat yummy delicious pizze. However, I ordered the Natalina and requested no olives, the waiter said he cannot accomodate that as they do not substitute. The previous location on VIctoria did not have a problem but he would not hold the olives. Okay fine... Next we asked for balsamic vinegar with the olive oil and bread and the waiter said he could not offer that to us b/c the olive was already flavoured and it would change the taste. Okay fine....When the meal arrived we asked for parmesan cheese and hotpeppers. The waiter said the he could bring the hot peppers but he could not offer the parmesan. Apparently it does not "go" with the pizzas we ordered. I asked to speak to the manager b/c of poor customer service and she told me that she had to respect the owners wishes and could not offer me parmesan. I was appalled that such a simple request was being denied. I wanted to know where my respect as a customer was!!! When I questioned them about the hot peppers being allowed I was told it was a condiment and that parmesan was an ingredient. My friends were then allowed to alter the taste of their pizzas with hot peppers but parmesan was a big no-no!!! We could not beleive what we were hearing, my lunch was not as satisfying at it could have been and the waiter's attitude was just not impressive..... I think I just might go back with my own Ziploc full of parmesan.....
Best Salad in the city even though it falls under appetizers. love the new location, beautiful patio! staff was a little too attentive almost irritating but could have been the complete opposite. i was with my husband and his parents, it is know my inlaws favorite restaurant in the city! Terroni's is fantastic, i go at least once a month for the Funghi Salad!
