One day, friends Steve Taylor, Derek O’Donoghue and Steve Cassell turned to each other and wondered if they could make a furniture company work on their own. They’d bonded while working at a company together, but when that company closed, they itched to see where their entrepreneurial spirits could take them. The answer, it turns out, is very far.
The trio found themselves in the unique situation of being jobless but with burning desires to keep honing their crafts, and from that, Amish Furniture Designed was born in 2009. According to Steve Taylor, “the timing was right.” From years of working in the furniture industry, they’d formed relationships with people in the Amish community and were confident they could start their own company successfully.
