Just ordered Halibut and chips light batter. Fish was very dry and chewy. They tri d to tell me that's because it's light batter. Golden Lake restaurant here I come next time ! There's is never dry and chewy! Always good!
We have always been loyal customers of this establishment & never had any complaints. But due to unforeseen circumstances this evening we will not be returning with our family again. A metal piece over an inch long was within a dinner served to my family which the manager insisted fell off their fryer. Be careful & check your food before consuming since they utilize such low grade frying baskets that apparently is no big deal for metal pieces (choking hazards) to be found in your food.
One of the few who can serve up fish&chips the way it should be. Reasonable priced weekend buffet with a modest assortment but good tasting food. Be aware this restaurant takes a cut of the employees tips.
I found the lasagna dinner I had greasy and bland but I guess you would expect that from a seafood restaurant. In saying that the manager did suggest it. What I found the most disturbing was the 'manager' and I use the term loosely was rude and caustic. She had dark eye make up , stunk of cigarette smoke and an English accent. I would not visit or refer this eatery to anyone. Having been in the hospitality industry for over 15 years I would say this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had.
Visited Archie's 4 times now and love the atmosphere! Friendly and competent staff. Fast service even when crowded. Love the window seats best. Will definitely go back!!!
The servers here as well as the manager need more training.The lack smiles and energy and the manager left us sitting with dirty plates on our table as he walked by and chatted with a friend at the table beside us.One of the people in the party complined about the taste of the fish and was told some times it just tastes funny but nothing was done about it.There was alot of cleaning that needed to be done from the floors to the bathrooms.next time I will avoid the staff and the dirty tables and floors and get take out.My fish was great but the staff is a real turn off!!!!!!!!
We are seafood lovers. The fish and chips was pretty good but on the greasy side, though, we kind of expected that. Coleslaw was good not great. We both enjoyed the handcut fries which were crispy. The seaside amosphere is homey feeling. There's lots of selection on the menu, even if you're not a fish eater. The service is ok but not overly friendly, attentive, or professional. The cashier/manager's demeanor is on par with the servers. I sense people are indifferent working here and lack some life. Too bad, as with some service improvements it could be great. I'll keep exploring for my fish 'n chip place but would return here. Try the 'light' batter vs the regular batter which is crispier and less greasy. Only some of the desserts are homemade, be sure to inquire. I would not order mushy peas again -- must be an acquired taste.
