The first and only place in Canada that we had to give ZERO tips to justify their horrible food and service. From the outside it seems a interesting old diner to go. For the food, I thought we were prisoners from old Fort Henry. Waitress has attitude and dare to yell at the customers. Don't go here unless you want to be humiliated.
Watch out for these "greasy" guys if you go for breakfast. Breakfast prices do NOT include coffee...that's OK... but they don't tell you....I had breakfast and ordered a coffee with it as most do...and as I usually do in many restaurants I get my coffee topped up...I have never been charged extra at any restaurant in the WORLD except here!....I ordered extra coffee three times...I got two top ups and then one new cup full (I thought that was nice!)....but when got my bill I was charged for the food and for 4 coffees....made for an expensive breakfast! I ended up speaking to the owner but got nowhere!...he said that's their policy.....I said OK...BUT state this in your menu! Watch out for this greasy spoon....that was 2 years ago....I bet their menu still hasn't been changed to indicate no free top-ups with breakfast!
The food there is simple and good but the service varies from the extremely charming and polite to the downright rude and abusive. I found out the name of the one fantastic server is Adeline or Adelina (sp?). Request her and don't take no for an answer. You are the customer and if it's a choice between them losing your business or sitting you in her section, they will take the latter. There is a woman who works there who's name I did not catch but she is older (probably late 50's) who is Greek and just very obnoxious. She visibly shoves the other waitresses out of her way in view of customers and is rude to them in front of customers. It seems like she bullies the other servers. Her behaviour was downright unacceptable. I don't know who she thinks she is but if I go in again and see her acting like this again, I will call the better business beaureaux and ask that they send an inspector there. On a better note, Adeline(a) and the younger girls are just lovely. I will always specifically request the young girl I mentioned (if she is working). At all costs I will not be served by the older woman even if I have to politely tell her to her face. I would give it five stars if not for the rude employee.
Great mom and pop food, fast service excelant price. A little noisy and always busy but waiteresses are great and would recommend this for a good fast breakfast on a weekend day.
A good place to grab a cheap but good breakfast. Their steak and eggs is one of my favorite breakfasts when we visit Kingston. Only drawback to the place is that is in constantly packed, very noisy, and you have to yell back and forth with the waitresses (who are otherwise quite polite) to place an order.
I go to this restaurant for the Breakfast....My idea of a good time is a full "He Man" breakast, lots of coffee, lots of time and the Globe and Mail...I like the waitresses..No pretension with these gals.. My wife and i were in there a few years back and saw a cockroach on the wall...it put my wife off but i have been back many times since and never seen another of the little critters.. Sorry to hear the owner can be such a grump but as long as the breakfasts are up to standard i will keep coming back.
the waitress was amazing. she followed through with my special request. great ambiance.
I really enjoyed the atmosphere inside the restuarant and the service was top notch but the food seemed to be rushed and lacked the quality needed to gain my regular business
All I can say is that this restaurant is the worst experience I ever had in Kingston. The owner is very RUDE! The service SUCKED! The food was cold and tasted like yesterdays left over meal. The price I paid was not worth the meal or a return visit.
I've visited many times, and have always been extremely pleased. I always suggest eating here, and my friends have always been pleased as well. For $10 you can have all day breakfast and a chocolate milkshake, great deal if you ask me.
well i very much like this restarant..it is in fact local but it is very delicous fast and fresh the service is above average...they could put a smile on there faces...but overall this place was Tassttyy!
To me, this is one of the only resturants in Kingston I can't stand. The Waitresses are mostly all rude, besides a few nice ones. The owner has a fit if you mention that something was not to your liking, and when you go to take a seat, he tells you that you are to fat to sit there (he said that to my mom) It's not only rude, but uncalled for. The food isn't too bad, but not the greatest.
As Kingston natives, my husband and I had eaten there hundreds of times throughout the years but after last month we will never return. Both of our sandwichs were ice cold -toast was hard and cold, my blt had 1 slice of tomato on each side. When we complained to the waitress she gave us the bill and said you have to take it up with the owner. Up at the cash, he yelled at us in front of the whole crowd waiting -yelling they are both cold sandwichs, they should not be hot. THis continued with him continuing to yell cold sandwich, finaly frustrated we began to leave he insisted on charging us for 2 orders of fries as they were hot( even though we had returned everything uneaten.) I will continue to tell everyone I meet this story and I work in the tourist industry.
The food is the best home cooked food I have ever tasted from a local restaurant including large corporate establishments. Morrison's Restaurant can be described by many as a diamond in the rough, with a fantastic view of New Downtown, located directly across from the Farmers Market/City Hall, which has undergone a magnificent transformation in recent renovations. Many would say that Morrison's is dirty, however it is far from this and looks this way from being in an old building, some paint, lighting and good old staff training would increase the value of this diamond. I do wish that a soda fountain be invested in as a can of soda makes an average guest feel restricted somewhat. For two of us dinning our total cost was $20 (drinks included in price). Overall my experience was a 12 of 10 I thoroughly enjoy Morrison's, the food is good, the price is good, and I visit often with no disappointment.
We were sat at the back. Waitresses kept smashing dishes around...hard to hear our conversation. Owner (I assume) discovered soup was left in pot overnight and was cursing up a storm under his breath. Cook looked like he was on parole. Cutlery-yuck.
The food is fantastic and the servers are even gorgeous
It was by far the fastiest breakfast place I have been to yet. And the food was great! I'd go back in a second.
Great food , Great Atmosphere, Awesome service. You must try the Super Breakfast!!!!!!!
I LOVE THIS PLACE! Went there at the suggestion of the good people at the Four Points Hotel the first time I visited Kingston, and, every time I find myself in this neck of the woods I make a special point of going here for breakfast and/or lunch... sometimes driving 2+ hours for the experience. Cannot be beat!
