WHAT???

Talk about trying too hard... Visited for a night, lovely town but this place was hyped up way too much. I paid 25 bucks for a FLANK steak which was "the feature" with truffle mashed potatoes. Truffle oil proved to be the case since no truffles were to be found. Side was half of a broccoli plant complete with partially rotted floret, but cooked so that's ok. The wife's pasta was way too sweet and for a "seasonal" menu, pretty sure butternut squash isn't harvested in July. All garnished with an incredibly loud house band consisting of an amplified guitar, saxophone and a bass. Usually fine, but the place is the size of my living room. As far as having a conversation, fahhget about it!

Definitely trying

Tramonto is not perfect, but they do care a lot. We have been there and had to wait for a table and then wait for food, but as far as restaurants in this little town that are really trying to make the town better this one gets a 5. Both the owner/ chef and his staff seem like a bunch of kids really passionate about food and wine and service. On a good night the food is perfect, better than many restaurants I have been to in London or Toronto, on a bad night you will wait an hour, the staff will be charming, and the food will still be great. On top of it, it seems like this is the restaurant here that really tries to be better all the time. Their wine list has gotten quite good, they change their menu seasonally, and they are very involved in the community, doing fashion shows and fundraisers and stuff. They have gotten better, they are still getting better, but don't go there if you only have half an hour.

Decor better than service and food

Had the service been better then we may try again. But to have staff who ignore you, forget to top your glass up and are basically inadequate at the job they are doing............is BAD.

Great Place to eat!

We eat here all the time and love it! The room is Beautiful, the food is always great although a little slow if the place is really busy. The wine list has improved alot in the last 6 months and the new manager has greatly improved service!!! Good Job Guys!!!

Have been in the past - while the food is always acceptable only once has it been super (that was the gnocchi). This time we went for a bday party and while service was adequate it was not as attentive as it could have been. Timing of food was poorly done - long waits for food and drinks. While most of the meals people had were acceptable half of the party ordered the chicken picatta which was horrible. We all agreed very bland - boiled chicken and non-descript sauce. Side of broccoli was the most flavourful! Stick with pasta I guess...

This restaurant has great food. I have eaten here 4 or 5 times and never experienced a bad meal. Although the food may come out slower than your average chain, it is always worth waiting for. And for 23 bucks a t-bone with 2 sides is an absolute bargain. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone and am saving my money to visit soon. I like that the owner is taking time to oversee every main going out. Remember folks good food takes time!

Great food and very clean cultlery and plates which is very important to my family in this time of deadly viruses. Odd thing though when my family visited we could overhear someone yelling in the back "This isnt good enough! " or something the children giggled and we felt kind of sorry for the employees which where obviously doing a great job. That poor man has anger issues. I would highly recommend this place though as im sure he was just having a bad day. Enjoy!

We went to Tramonto for a early birthday dinner...

We went to Tramonto for a early birthday dinner for my wife on a Saturday night at 6:30. We were seated very quickly but waited 10 - 15 minutes before our server came by to ask about a drink order. Although the menu is fairly extensive, covering all the usual Italian fare, we were surprised that there was no fish entree on the menu and that there were no evening specials. Appetizers arrived within an appropriate time for a busy restaurant (more staff should have been working - 3 wait staff + plus hostess for 15 - 20 tables). We both ordered a shrimp dish which was excellent. Bread and olive oil/balsamic vinegar was not presented to our table, we asked for it twice before we got it with our entrees. Bread would have been good to soak up the garlicly wine and butter sauce on the shrimp. We rarely order the same entree, but we both ordered the veal scallopine with proscuitto and fresh sage (which was a little overpowering). The entrees were excellent. For dessert, my wife had triamasu and I had a chocolate caramel sundae, both were very good. The tables are relatively small so our wine bucket was placed on the floor (perhaps some stainless steel wine bucket holders would be in order). We will return but not on a Saturday night in the summer as we got caught in the pipe band parade down Queen Street which closes the street for close to an hour!

I tried this new restaurant for the first time...

I tried this new restaurant for the first time and was very impressed. I was surprised what they were able to do with the old Sunset restaurant. The atmosphere is wonderful, with a melding of colours and textures that make for a quaint, warm dining environment. It felt like we had stepped out of Kincardine and into Italy. Our waiter was an expert of his craft. He was extremely friendly, and made jokes with us at the table. I would say he is a great part of what made this an excellent evening. We were all first time diners of this establishment and he was able to answer all our questions about different dishes and wines. We had a reservation and were seated right away. Shortly, we ordered and received a kind of sampler appetizer plate with an assortment of crackers, meats and cheeses as well as grapes and other goodies. This was an excellent pre meal sampler. Everything was good and allowed some of us to try meats and cheeses we may not have had before. Our meal orders did take quite a bit of time to come, but we were content as we were enjoying each other's company and had appetizers. I ordered the pesto spaghettini and it was delicious. It was perfectly al dente, with a good amount of pesto, and an assortment of fresh fried vegetables. I can't wait to try it again next time I am in town.

Seriously unimpressed!

I went with a friend and we waited until someone noticed us for 5 to ten minutes. Our waiter was stuffy and pretentious. He was practically ignoring us for the bigger tables giving them the best service. He was also impatient with me as I had never been there before and I was asking questions. The food was not good it was dry and the potato hash was outrageously spicy, I couldn't get the taste out of my mouth. The caesar sald was two huge leafs which were browned and a bit of dressing and a tiny bit of bacon! Ridiculous. Kincardine is known for it's snobbiness and this restaurant doesn't help!
