Before he opened KCC Gourmet & Catering, Kevin Anyan was a restaurateur with a passion for food. And while he loved making meals, he wasn’t as excited about the restaurant aspect. He wanted instead to be involved with special occasions, bringing his delectable meals to people rather than having foodies come to him. So he struck out into the world of catering. “When I owned a local restaurant, we started catering to help pay for the chef,” he says. “I discovered that I like catering better than running a restaurant. We have the unique opportunity to be part of the most important days in people's lives.”
After he decided to become a full-time caterer, Kevin needed a new chef; acquiring one didn’t work out quite the way he imagined. “I hired a red-headed chef who wouldn’t listen to me,” he says. “So I ended up marrying her. She said if we were going to pay a mortgage together, it better be doing something we loved. And that’s catering.”
