After deciding she needed a change from her career as a middle school teacher in South Korea, Ellie Seo came to Vancouver to study business. Following her studies Ellie continued to teach, however her mornings were spent working in a small coffee shop. She began learning all of the ins and outs of the coffee business so she might one day pursue a new career.

“I worked as a manager at some very famous coffee houses, and then I ended up here at Pleasant Beans,” smiles Ellie. In early 2014, after working as the manager for six months, she was presented with the opportunity to take ownership of this delightful community coffee shop. “It’s going well. The interesting thing is the hidden hard work,” laughs Ellie. “I really enjoy the hidden hard work. Every day I discover new challenges and it’s teaching me a lot.”
