The path in life you carve out for yourself may not always lead to the destination you'd initially planned. A case in point is Brad Sieber, the head and hands of ReForm + Design, a custom woodworking outfit specializing in residential and commercial commissions, public art, furniture, and architectural features, often using live/natural edged wood from reclaimed locally sourced tree species like walnut, maple, plum, cherry, and birch.
"About three years ago, I couldn't shake the fact that what I was doing wasn't the right fit," says Brad, a mechanical engineering graduate from Queen's University. He had worked in a variety of positions in his field, from machine shops to the world's biggest consulting companies.
Throughout his career he'd always been doing woodworking as a hobby. So when he couldn't stand the 9-to-5 in slacks and a dress shirt anymore, he made the move to full-time woodworking. "I've always wanted to run my own business and I've always had a passion for working with my hands, especially with wood," Brad explains.
