Step back in time at Moderne Burger, a 1940s diner with flirtatious flair. Opened in 2001, this retro-vibe restaurant will satiate any desire for the freshest burgers, crispiest fries and tastiest milkshakes in town, blended to perfection. Inside, the design is a throwback to another era, with checkerboard floors, cozy vinyl booths and chrome finishes that remind you of grandma’s kitchen table.
Peter Kokinis started Moderne Burger when he was unable to source the exact burger that he wanted in restaurants. “Simply put, I couldn’t get the hamburger I wanted,” says Peter. “Every time I went out, I got a bun that was a week old and out of a bag and a patty that fell apart… Everybody missed what fresh was about.” With a passion for art moderne style, Peter set to creating the perfect blend of his passions: art and food. He maintains a limited menu of fries, shakes and various burgers, but those choice menu items are done incredibly well. “Burgers are in our blood,” Peter says. “This is what we do.”

Their creamsicle milkshake is great, food is pretty good, have gone back a few times making the 35minute commute. Have never been disappointed with the food or service.
Moderne Burger is a very hip, very funky little eatery on the West side of Vancouver. Located in the bustling Broadway corridor they have an excellent location and a fun and nostalgic 50's diner theme and feel. True to their theme they have fabulous fountain drinks like orange creams, vanilla rootbeer, floats and really really good milkshakes. They also offer really good perfectly cooked fresh-cut french fries. The operation seems to be a family affair and the service is excellent. So what's the problem? Sadly, the burgers. They tout their burgers as having no preservatives or seasonings of any kind. The preservative part we like but the lack of seasoning does nothing to improve the taste of hamburger meat. A little salt? A dash of pepper? A soupcon of cumin or paprika? All of these would go a long way to improving the taste of the burger. As it stands today I would happily pop in to stuff my face with the fries and shakes but don't know that I would order a burger there again.
