Dresses of all shapes, sizes and styles hang in the spaces between Christine Powell’s shop, Urban Bride Delivered. The dresses are the newest styles, and are either once used, or samples from shops that do not have the space for them. As a result, the prices are far less expensive than you might expect for high end designers and very elaborate wedding dresses.
After about seven years of running a wedding gown shop out of the basement of her home, Christine moved her business into a space on the upper floor of a building in southeast Edmonton in early 2016. “I wanted it to feel like a loft or an apartment. You come into a personal space,” says Christine. The shop does have a personal feel akin to stepping into a giant walk-in closet. Brides make an appointment with Christine, so when they come to try on dresses, they have the place to themselves and the complete attention of Christine.
