There are few places where the entire family can get out and have some fun together. For Strathcona County residents, Sherwood Bowl has been that place since the 1960s. “We cater to everybody. We welcome any age,” says Wendy Wiseman, who has worked at Sherwood Bowl since the mid-‘90s and took over ownership in 2014. “People from all walks of life come into this place and all ages can enjoy it.”
Sherwood Bowl's leagues have three year-olds getting in the action, while there's a 100 year-old bowler playing in the seniors' league. They also cater to those with special needs with their Special Olympics leagues twice a week. “We offer bowling to people with special needs. We have access for wheelchairs, plus ramps for them to use for ball delivery," says Wendy. "The Robin Hood Association, a non-profit service provider for kids and adults with disabilities, is here almost every day during the week to help everybody use this facility.”
